$345.00$380.00

Golden colour 1600s dress from Vermeer’s paintings with typical 17th century boat neckline. It has corseted bodice, which closes on back lacing. The skirt is a separate item, fastened to the bodice with buttons. The bodice is made of a dense fabric and has cotton lining, but the boning is rather light. As other 1600s gowns, it is designed to be worn over proper undergarments.

You can find the stays (corset) here.
And here’s the chemise which will work well with the dress

Golden dress with a plain neckline is often seen on Vermeer’s paintings. A rough bodice with flattened breasts is a mark of Renaissance, but deep decollette and a boat neckline shows the new baroque and rococo fashions are coming to change it.

Such dress could be worn by a noble French, Dutch or English women. Golden gowns are often shown on Netherlandish painters’ pictures of 17th century.

The dress has a rather rough bodice and closes with back lacing. It was fashioned to be worn over the proper undergarments of the times (corset and chemise), which can be bought separately. Though the dress will be functional without these undergarnments as well.

Costume is designed as two separate items: skirt and bodice, which are fastened by buttons on the bodice bottom and skirt girdle. Either of them can be worn separately.

Costume copy of different materials and different colours is available.
