If you want to acquire historically accurate Renaissance dress, you should not only keep the silhouette right, but also make the layers work properly. Full women’s Renaissance outfit would historically consist of a shirt (chemise), well structured underdress, either boned or heavily lined with linen or another dense fabric, then optionally you may have laced on sleeves and then overdress, if required. Don’t forget about the head cover, purses and other accessories which make the Renaissance lady costume looking full and complete.

They look historically correct, make a good silhouette, easier to wear and are suitable for the hot weather – all that a renfaire costume would be needed for.

If you want something luxurious and suitable for the Renaissance queen outfit, please look at 16th century dresses. All of them have a well-boned bodice and a good shape, and they are mainly tailored using a high end fabrics and jewelry or beading. They will also fit your purpose if you want to have a Renaissance dress with corset, but not planning to acquire the stays separately.
