Sargent Madame X Dress, 1890s Black Historical Gown

A scandalous ‘Madame X’ portrait gown – simple, but made precise to match Sargent’s famous painting. Nothing works as well as the right silhouette.

The dress is made of black satin, the bodice is well boned and lined with 100% cotton. It works as a corset and is closed on back lacing. The sizing is rather adjustable due to modesty panel underneath the lacing. Silvery sequins and brooches embelishing the shoulder straps are the only minimalistic accent of the dress.

The gown is made to be worn over a set of period lingerie, which is also available in the shop, but will look rather good without it as well.
